Tree Trimming and Tree Pruning:

There are multiple considerations to be made when pruning and trimming your trees. For starters: different types of trees require different methods and styles of trimming; as well, it is important to cut branches at the proper time of year so as not to create disease or encourage parasites such as the bark beetle.

Whether you need help managing your overgrown trees, trimming low limbs or removing a widow-maker, we have the tools, skills and basic knowledge necessary to carry out these various kinds of tasks.

Tree Removal:

Removing a tree (or trees), as with trimming and pruning, requires proper planning and competent hands to do the work. We use adequate personal protective equipment (PPE) while performing all of our work. We also have years of experience in assessing and felling sick and/or hazardous trees; therefore, we are able to give our customers honest and accurate cost estimates, and are able to execute removals without causing harm to your property or home.

Forest Thinning/ Fire Mitigation:

Our forest thinning practices are aligned with the standards set by the New Mexico Soil and Water Conservation Districts. We work with various SWCD’s in order to accomplish forest thinning projects, through their cost share programs. These programs make fire mitigation work more affordable for homeowners living in wilderness-urban-interface (WUI) areas. Of course, we also welcome the opportunity to perform these kinds of projects outside of cost share programs, with homeowners or whoever else might be interested.

These fire mitigation/ forest thinning/ forest health efforts often involve a combination of tree trimming and selective tree removal practices; the general idea is to remove sick, dead and overly dense growth across acreage, and to eliminate ladder fuels that have the potential to cause unmanageable, destructive canopy fires.

As well as lessening the chance of severe fire, these efforts (when done properly) create healthier forests. People in old times would regularly use ground fires and grazing to ensure that forests did not become overly dense; this allowed trees to grow in healthy succession, and for grasses, shrubs and forbes to flourish. Because of the relatively new practices of old growth logging and fire supression, many of the modern forest scapes that we are used to seeing today are sickly and overcrowded, making fine tinderboxes and prime habitat for parasites and disease. We utilize hand crews with chainsaw and brush chipping capabilities to replicate the effects of ground fires and grazing, in order to encourage our forests to return to a healthy state of being.

Rockscaping and Other Erosion Control Practices:

We learned many of our techniques for erosion control through working with Ecotone Landscape Planning, a forestry consulting company based out of Santa Fe, NM. Much of our work in this field involves constructing hand-made rock, log and brush structures that are strategically placed in washes, streams and depressions to create soil and water retainment structures (basically, various types of check dams). This kind of work can minimize, prevent and even reverse erosion on your property; as well, it helps to deliver water that would otherwise be runoff to the roots of grasses, shrubs and trees.

Our business is also involved in the planting of grasses, trees and shrubs. We can help you design and implement projects that benefit your home and property, and those of your neighbors.
